VoiceThread

VoiceThread

Teachers need more ideas each time, students grow and they can get tired of the same every single session. That is why here we have VoiceThread, a tool designed to help students talk freely.

By using this tool the speaking skill will be developed a lot because this is an application that focuses on recording speeches.

Here you have some activities that you could implement in your classes...

Activities:

#1 The teacher will create a forum talking about the topic of the session. The students will have to access to that forum, listen to the teacher's speech and make a comment of at least two minutes. They can record a video or just audio.

#2 The students could have a virtual conversation. One student will start a conversation with one classmate. Then, this classmate will answer by recording their answer. And so on. It is very creative because they will be practicing speaking but maybe they are not nervous about talking in front of others.

#3 The teacher can also upload a video on the forum and the students will have to look for some details that the teacher asks them to look for. When they found everything on the video. They will have to record themselves mention all the aspects necessary and upload the audio. The teacher will hear the audios and it will be easier to check their performance.

TIPS

  • It is necessary to have enough time to develop these activities.
  • Try to learn a lot from the app because sometimes it can be difficult to allow students to upload the audios but you can change that in the settings.
  • Ask the students to speak for a specific amount of time because it could be so tedious to check long audios.
Here you have a plan that you could adapt to your class:

VoiceThread is a wonderful tool for any area of English. There you can develop many topics so have fun teaching with it!
