Google Slides!

Google Slides!

For a long time, people have known about the existence of this tool, but maybe they do not give enough importance to what teachers and other people can do with it. It just seems to be simple and neutral but the truth is that you can do A LOT! That is why I will explain to you some activities to get the most of it.

First, it is important to know that by using this great tool, the students will be able to develop different skills, but the most relevant within this case is speaking.

Activities:

#1 This activity can be implemented at the beginning or at the end of the lesson. The teacher will ask the students to work in 2 groups. Then, in each group, they will access the tool and will create different slides with words about the topic assigned.  When the groups have their slides ready they will exchange them with the other group. The next step is to project the slides on the screen in order to play "Charades". One participant in each group is going to guess the words without seeing them, and the other classmates will try to help him/her.

#2 The students will be asked to look for information on the internet about the topic that the teacher suggests them. They will add images and will decorate the slides as they want. Then, they will present what they found and will explain the different images or videos that they used, and why they used them.

#3 The teacher will create a game. In the slide, she will type a number of questions and their respective answer, but the answer needs to be hidden with some image. The teacher will create groups and will ask them the questions. If they got the answer, they will get a prize. The group with more successful answer wins.

TIPS
Sometimes teachers are not sure of good results about using a new tool. For that reason here you have some tips.

  • Let the students discover the tool without limits. Even you can ask them to add some icons or emojis that they like.
  • Do not give up when trying to design the games. Give all of you and think of your students' likes.
  • Use different colors and shapes to keep your students focus on the activity.
In addition, I attach this plan that can be used in class:

Google Slides is not as simple as people think. It helps to create many activities to make the students enjoy and learn at the same time. Discover more about this amazing tool and tell us ;)
